– Acoma is one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in North America.

NEW SPAIN
– conquistador Juan de Oñate establishes “New Spain” on the territory of modern-day New Mexico.

1599

ACOMA MASSACRE
– conquistadors, led by Juan de Oñate, massacre hundreds of Acoma Pueblo people and cut off left feet from men over 25.

1607

SANTA FE IS FOUNDED

1629 – 1641

Father Juan Ramirez oversees the construction of the San Estevan Del Rey Mission Church at Acoma Pueblo.

1680

PUEBLO REVOLT
– several New Mexico pueblos, including Acoma Pueblo rise up against the Spanish rule.

1706

ALBUQUERQUE IS FOUNDED
