As April rolled in, time began to feel meaningful for our project. We’ve been preparing and researching but as our goal is to shoot the short fiction film about Solomon in June, there is suddenly not so much time left. The task now is to finalize the script, raise more funds, and find the great actors who will make it all real.
We are also continuing to make new connections with the project. A number of organizations from LA and San Francisco as well as new people are excited about the story and have come on board to help. One exciting research development is that we should soon be able to get a hold of actual sound recordings of Solomon Bibo singing! He does some Spanish-language and Navajo numbers. Quite unbelievable that such recordings exist. We found out about them by talking with Michael Berger, Solomon’s only surviving grandson. He lives in Tokyo and has heard about these recordings from a distant relative. That’s how research works out some time – through an amazing, international grapevine.
And here are some great new pics we’ve unearthed from the world of our film…
